Bar 13

Hey It's M,

"Put your hands in the air if you like Sex!" Yelled the DJ.
Bar 13, located at East 13th Street between Broadway and University Place, had 3 floors of fun!
First floor was the "hip hop" room, although they didn't play much hip hop and mostly everything that's played on the radio, it was packed.  Second floor was the "house" room.  It wasn't your typical house music it had a nice beat and Caribbean feel to it. Very danceable and really fun and alot less crowded.  Third floor was the outdoor roof top! It was very chill and everyone either stood around and conversated or sat down.

Girl to Guy ratio was pretty even.  There wasn't much of a mix of different types of men.  There were a few blacks guys, a few Latin guys and mostly your average white boy. They looked like they were recent college grads.  There were of course your awkward stalker types, like the "Put some Jamaican in you diet and Bam!" Guy who wouldn't take his eyes off me and tried to get my name.

Unfortunately non of the normal guys approached me but it was an overall fun night with the girls and a great place for dancing. Its not quite a club but more laid back and you have your choices of different floors to visit.

Ever been to a place and felt like you were so over the rude pretentious unnecessary attitude by the people at the door? Well fortunately this didn't happen at Bar 13. The people at the door were cheery and in a good mood. "Good for you for quitting smoking"is what the bouncer said to us as we were on our way out. Like M mentioned, the place had three floors. The first floor was incredibly loud but with good music to dance to. The lines at the bathroom weren't insane, and besides the lack of soap, they were kept clean by a guy who made sure to tidy up the stalls after every few people went in. The barmen on the first floor were insanely slow it took them about 10 minutes to get to us when they weren't overwhelmed with people.

After getting our drinks we danced for a bit and then decided to visit the roof top located on the third floor. The outside patio was cute, we found seats and were able to smoke in the nice weather. Around us were guys who looked like they were the losers of a fraternity. Yes, white boys who weren't attractive--however definitely better than the guys at our last bar.

Interestingly enough, the crowd was mainly recently turned 21 year old caucasions- with a hint of some randomly placed awkward people for whom I kept wondering how they got in and what they were doing there. For instance, in the house (middle) floor, an short Asian man who had a blond afro in a bandana and dressed like he was from the 'hood', was dancing like he was on E. Yes Blond afro Asian was not alone in this sort of E dancing trend. Another short skinny Asian man in a onesie was dancing with a butch homeless looking lesbian as if they were on a trip. But I guess that can be found in a lot of clubs. All in all the hip-hop music and good company are what kept me in this place till 1:15 AM--we probably would have stayed longer if that weird 30 year old man didn't try so hard to take a picture with me.

$10 cover on a friday night isn't bad. All in all I'd say 3.5/5 ...Still no one attractive-but at least the DJ wasn't an idiot-(I've been to places where the DJ didn't know what he was doing...but I'll save that for another rant)

Yours truley,
-N
